What is Floating?
Float therapy is the method of using a special flotation tank for a light-proof, restrictive environment stimulus experience. The floatation tank or pool is filled with roughly 11 inches of skin temperature water mixed with 1000 pounds of Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate, MgSO4). The float solution keeps the body completely weightless, which alleviates many of the effects of pain, stress, and anxiety to which we are constantly exposed in the outside world. Pretty much anyone can enjoy a float. The use of float tanks is not limited to a particular demographic. People who need to manage stress, increase creativity or reducing pain find floating therapeutic. There are conditions where you should not float: if you have epilepsy, drug or alcohol intoxication, infectious disease, open wounds and serious psychological conditions. It's also important to mention being able to get in and out of our pod or float pool without assistance. It is similar to getting in and out of a bathtub. Our staff is not trained in transferring clients. The salt water is very silky.
No light. No noise. No sound.
Those looking for more of a scientifically supported reason to try floating will be happy to know it's backed by a lot of ongoing research. Athough there's still a lot to learn regarding the physiological effects of a reduced stimuli environment, floating is believed to potentially help alleviate all sorts of stress-related problems, such as:
Mood Related disorders and symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Lowers cortisol, the stress hormone
Burnout and frequent sick days

What to Expect on your First Visit
New guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their appointment time. We will have a short orientation to go over some things and answer any questions you may have. If you arrive late for the appointment, you may be asked to reschedule. This is to preserve the quietness and integrity of our floats, since the floats begin simultaneously.
Each float suite has a private shower, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, makeup remover towelette if needed, & earplugs. You will take a pre-float shower to shampoo hair and cleanse your body well before entering the pod or pool. After the float, you will want to shower to rinse the salt off. Please wear something comfortable and easy to put on after your float. The room will be a little humid.
Please visit the restroom prior to your float.
Power your phone off, or put on airplane mode.
If you wear contacts, you’ll want to have your case with you for storage during your float.
Avoid shaving or waxing approximately 12 hours prior to your float. The salt in the water may cause stinging. If you have any minor scrapes, we do provide an ointment to apply prior to entering the water.
Avoid caffeine 4 hours before your appointment. Have a light snack to keep your belly from growling and disturbing your float. Hydration is very important, but too much to drink prior to your float may require you to get out, rinse off, and go to the bathroom. We don’t want this to interrupt your float experience.
If you color your hair, please be sure you’ve shampooed enough to where the water runs clear. Hair color can change the color of the float water and stain the fiberglass on our tanks. It is usually fine after 4-5 shampoos.
Please wait a minimum of 10 days to float after a spray tan. It would be best to float today and tan tomorrow! Plan ahead :)
Females experiencing their menstrual cycle: please use the same protocol as you would in a swimming pool. If it’s heavy, please reschedule your appointment.
It may take a while to turn your mind off and relax. To help this, focus on counting slow deep breaths in and out. If your mind wanders off again, go back to the breaths.
Last, but not least, come with an open mind and no expectations. Everyone gets what they need from each float. It may be to help alleviate stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, muscle recovery, burnout, or simply to fulfill a curiosity. The benefits are cumulative. The more you float, the better it gets.
Is floating safe during pregnancy?
For most women, the answer is YES! As with any medical condition, we always recommend checking with your doctor for any health concerns.
Here are 4 big reasons to float during pregnancy:
1. The weightlessness provides a rare opportunity to be without any pressure on your physical body, which can help to reduce swelling.
2. SLEEP. Oh, sweet sleep. Many pregnant women experience insomnia throughout their journey, and floating can provide a deep, powerful nap and/or more restful sleep later.
3. Reducing stress is an important element in any wellness plan, but especially so for expecting moms.
4. Many women report feeling a sense of bonding with their babies. Some say floating feels like the comfort of being in the womb, and the quiet time without distraction can be a beautiful opportunity to appreciate the experience of pregnancy.
How does it work?
A flotation tank is pretty simple: it contains 11 inches of water heated to skin temperature, filtered through ozone, UV, and micron filter after every use. The water contains 1000 lbs of Epsom salts to ensure that anyone can float.
In addition to the float pod, we have two open float rooms. This looks similar to a bathtub only it measure over 9 foot long and 6 feet wide. It's large enough for a couple!
What do I need to bring?
Generally speaking, nothing but yourself!
We'll provide shower products and towels and space for you to get ready after your appointment.
Since swimsuits can bring pool chemicals, laundry detergents and fabric dyes, your birthday suit is the best thing to wear!
Do you change the water after each float?
Just like swimming pools won't change the water after each use, neither will we. But unlike swimming pools, the float tank water is kept clean without the use of heavy chemicals.
Instead, we'll use a super high-powered filtration system that is always on - except during a float when the water needs to be still. This micron filter catches the tiniest of particles, and runs through several cycles between guests.
And of course, it's saltier than the Dead Sea --you know why it's called the Dead Sea, right?
